who needs sleep?

Mail still arrives for my father.
He died almost four years ago.
Sometimes it hurts to see the envelopes.
Sometimes it feels like a nice reminder.
Sometimes it feels like nothing.
Strange how normal these feelings become.
Three years now I’ve payed permanent tribute on my arm.
Inked like I had just startled an octopus.
I’d get so much more done with eight arms and legs.
I wonder if you would be able to think clearer with that many limbs?
Maybe it wouldn’t take so long to cap the spill.
Would it be easier to multi-task?
I’m such a klutz, I’d probably just get tangled up.
I am tangled up still.
Life never gets easier, but who am I to complain?
If I were an octopus I’d have a hand to give,
I’d just hope not to be covered in oil.
No sense in crying over spilled filth.
Let’s just throw some newspaper on it,
and call it a day.

Oh great canvas, how the hours paint you.
Sometimes I wake to your optimistic rays,
though sometimes it’s on darker days.
The bright ones I lay and watch you roll on through.

I see shapes in your cotton coverings
that sail upon you like newspaper schooners.
And as the day moves forward, your landscape is lunar.
I connect the dots in your freckled smothering.

You are looking down on me at all times,
but I do not find you pretentious. It is just,
where you have been since before I was
and you are too great for me to fathom.

Those incandescent freckles seem like thumb-tacs,
piercing you and holding you all the way up there.
You are the world’s blanket and I’m beginning to feel warm here.
We are a snow globe under your incasing of marvelous glass.

So far above me, but seem so close through telescope eyes.
Some say you hold the gate to heaven. I don’t
believe in such things, but if I did, I would not
deny you were the place, with the sun and moons on your lapels.

You did your best to support me.
Navigating canary yellow taxi cabs
through late night urban pavement paths.
The meter was the clock that bound you to nights,
but you would stay up all day to be with me.
We would play chess over glass bottles of coke,
rice cakes with cream cheese.
You’d almost always let me cheat to win.
You loved me more than I could understand at the time
and my ignorance will haunt me until I can accept that you loved me too much
to ever hold that against me. So here’s looking at you,
looking at myself in the mirror. I wanna make you proud,
do our name justice. I couldn’t hold you up,
but I will try to never let you down. Rest easy pops.
I just wish I believed in an afterlife to meet you in.

More exciting internet tech knowledge comin at’cha. This week we learned about privacy online, and why macs have tighter security than windows computers. This is because of their operating systems. Macs run on Unix which is a stable enviornment, while windows runs on DOS which is not very stable at all. We also learned about encryption which is much like garbbling text that the receiver would have to ungarbble. I know, hold on to your hats folks, this s*@! is crazy. Cookies were another thing we learned about, theyre just temporary files that show up as history on your browser.

Once again this week we ventured further into dreamweaver. I didn’t learn much more than from what I already knew last week, but I AM getting a little more fluid of a workflow with it. We also learned how to create a website through google but it was dreadfully boring, and incredibly simplistic, almost to the point of reverting back to difficult.It was so easy that it pined my brain too much to think about how to use it. So there you go, another fun-filled week in the world of internet tech. Till next time, peace.

This week in class we continued to learn about html and dreamweaver. Dreamweaver is actually a very cool program, and makes designing a website incredibly easy. In the design view you can literally put things as you wish them to appear and then the program will just enter it in html format in the other view. You can do a split view also to see exactly how everything is entered in both forms. We also leanred how to link pages together which you can do very simply and quickly with the pointer tool. Dreamweaver is a fun and easy way to create your own website and I look forward to using it more to create my own websites for my professional endeavors.

So once again, I am here to enlighten anyone who cares about my gained knowledge in last weeks class. I must admit this class has shown me how ignorant I am to how the internet operates. Last week we worked with Wikipedia and I was surprised how easy it actually is to just edit the information given to you on that site. It really makes you stop and think how valid some of the information you retrieve from the internet actually is. I started changing facts just to do it, you know? Also we investigated how you can tell if a website is valid or not, and while I’m still not 100% on my madskillzyo, I think I’m better than I was before. More next week until then, keep ya headzz up^.
